Choosing a Quality Drycleaning Service

If you have a favorite suit, a new dress, or a beautiful coat, you don’t want to take your chances when it comes to quality of care. When it comes time to clean your garments, you want to be confident that they are being treated well and thoroughly cleaned without unwanted damage.

When you choose a dry cleaner, take the following into consideration to ensure your clothes last for years to come:

Efficiency: Timeliness is crucial when it comes to dry cleaning – especially if you need your clothes for a special date, a wedding, or other important upcoming event. Your clothes should be ready at the time specified when you place your order. If there is a stubborn stain or repair that needs to be done and might take more time, your dry cleaner should let you know or make necessary adjustments to make sure your garments are cleaned on time.

Quality of Care: Garments should be cleaned thoroughly yet gently. Items requiring special attention such as intimate apparel, delicates, or high-end fabric should be treated with great care. For instance, you don’t want to get your beautiful new wool coat back with a new stain or a missing button. Additionally, try and find a dry cleaner that uses green, environmentally-safe cleaning products.

Customer Service: The staff should be helpful, available to answer questions, and responsive to feedback. Communication is key – if you have special requests, the person taking your order should write them down and make a note of them. Ideally, they should call you when your garments are ready and not be afraid to ask you questions if they need clarification at any point during the process.

Here at E-Laundry USA, we know how important your garments are and take every step necessary to ensure they are returned to you clean, fresh, and ready to wear. We are available to answer questions and are always open to your ideas as well. When you choose us, you can have confidence in knowing that we’ll take proper care of your most important garments.

How Does a Washing Machine Work, Anyway?

You’ve used washing machines all your life, either in your home or at the laundromat. You know that your clothes go in dirty and come out nice and clean, but beyond that, do you know how a washing machine really works?

As you know, there are several settings on the washer that you choose from, depending on what type of clothing and load you’re washing. You choose the load size (small, medium, large or extra-large), how delicate or heavy your fabrics are, and depending on the machine, how long the cycle should be.

First, you add your detergent and the machine fills with water (more or less depending on the load size). Then, the clothes are spun around using what’s called an agitator. The agitator is the bin that holds your clothing as it’s washed. The agitator sits inside of a large metal tub, and you’ll notice there are holes in the side of the agitator- this is so the water can drain. After a short spin, the water is completely drained. The clothes are spun by the agitator to remove the remaining water in the fabric; the machine once again fills with water and repeats the cycle to rinse out the remaining soap and water. At this point you may or may not add bleach (particularly useful for heavily soiled items). Ta-Da! Your clothes are now fresh and clean, without having to lift a finger (well, maybe a laundry basket).

Can Your Broken Zipper be Fixed?

Whether on your favorite pair of boots or that cool leather jacket, there aren’t many things more annoying than a broken zipper. Sometimes, the zipper is simply caught in the fabric and can be teased back into place, but other times the zipper will need to be replaced. Either way, e-laundry USA can help, as we offer garment repair services. You may not need a repair service if it’s easily fixed at home. So how do you know if your zipper can be saved?

First, take a look at your zipper. If the zipper is caught in the fabric surrounding the track, the key is to slowly and carefully remove the surrounding fabric from the zipper. The key is to be patient and not rush, as this can further damage the zipper and surrounding fabric.

If the pull-tab is missing, you can usually replace it with a paper clip if there is a hole in the slider where the pull-tab was attached. This isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing option, but it’ll do the trick in the short-term until you can have the zipper replaced.

If the the zipper has simply fallen off the “track” and needs to be re-adjusted, you can choose to repair it at home. You’ll need to tear out the stitching at the bottom of the zipper track, remove the zipper “stop” at the bottom, and guide the zipper back into place before sewing the zipper track back into the garment and re-installing the zipper stop. If teeth are missing from the zipper track, it will need to be replaced.

Don’t have time to fix your own zipper? Don’t worry – we can help. Simply place an order online and we’ll pick up your garment and have it fixed for you in no time!

Caring for Your Delicates

If you’re short on time, you may be tempted to throw your delicate garments into the same load as your regular laundry. Our advice? Don’t!

Garments such as bras, underwear, and thin blouses take extra care; handling them the same way as you would jeans or t-shirts will result in, at worst, damage to the clothing, and at best, a shorter life span for the garment. If you feel you’re too busy (or, let’s face it, you’d rather spend your time doing other, more fun things) to take proper care of your delicates, don’t worry – you don’t have to spend extra time.

Invest in a mesh wash bag. These can be filled with your delicate items and washed with your regular load. Make sure the holes in the mesh aren’t too big, as bra and lingerie hooks can get caught in them. You can also hand wash your items and lay them or hang them to dry.

Even better: Give us a call or place an order online and have us pick up your laundry for you. When you place your order, you can specify which pieces need special handling. We’ll do the rest for you!

What is a Laundry Drop Box?

If you don’t have time to bring your laundry to the laundromat, laundry drop boxes are the perfect alternative. With our drop boxes, you can specify the drop box you’d like to use along with special care instructions on our website. Then, all you need to do is drop off your dirty laundry or garments in need of repair. We’ll pick up your clothing, wash, dry clean, and repair as requested, and then you can pick them up at the same location once the order is completed.

Our laundry drop boxes are located in various convenient locations. We also install drop boxes at businesses, as well as apartment and housing complexes. Drop boxes are the fastest, easiest way to get your laundry done without the hassle of hauling your laundry to and from your local wash ‘n fold. It’s an affordable luxury that you deserve!

Stain Removal Q&A: How do I remove a red wine stain?

Red wine stains are notoriously difficult to remove. Thankfully, there is a solution! You can place an order to have us pick up your garment or drop by our Wash n’ Fold headquarters, or you can choose to remove the stain yourself. Here is how to remove a red wine stain.

If your red wine stain is fresh:

You’ll need white wine, salt, baking soda, talcum powder, club soda, and boiling water. As a first step, blot the stain carefully with a clean rag or towel – do NOT rub the stain as this will only set it further. Add a bit of white wine to the mix and continue blotting. If the stain is fresh, this should do it. If the stain is still there, pour salt, talcum powder or baking soda onto the stain and let it sit for a few minutes, then hold up the fabric and pour boiling water through the stain.

If the red wine stain is old:

It gets a bit trickier to remove a stain that’s already been sitting there a while. It’s still possible, it just takes a bit more persistence. For an older stain you’ll need dish detergent and hydrogen peroxide. Mix equal parts detergent and hydrogen peroxide in a bowl, and blot the stain with this solution.

If the stain won’t come out, contact us and we’ll be glad to help.

Choosing123 a Better Laundry Service

When we buy a service, most of us like to do our research. If we need to take our dog or cat to the vet, for instance, we go on Yelp, we talk with friends, we do everything we can to find out about who we are sending our pet to. We do the same with dentists, car mechanics, phone companies, and even restaurants. If we care about our clothes, should do the same with laundry services.

You may think that most laundry services are the same, that a laundromat is a laundromat. But with so many laundry outlets to choose from, it’s important to do your research just as you would with any other service. Clothing is delicate and must be treated accordingly; many services rush through orders, washing clothing items at the wrong temperature or with harsh detergent, and sometimes even forgetting orders or completing an order late, causing you to scramble for new clothes before that big wedding or work function.

At E-Laundry USA, we handle your garments with great care, whether we are completing a simple wash ‘n fold order or repairing a zipper on your favorite pair of boots. We always return your items to you when you need them, ensuring a positive laundering experience. When you want your laundry done right, give us a call and we’ll be glad to help.

The Miracle of the Internet: Do Your Laundry Online!

Technological advances have made many things possible that we would have previously thought as being pretty far-out: you can order groceries, buy anything from a toaster to a new car, take classes, watch movies… the list goes on and on. Okay, we admit it, you can’t technically do your laundry online. Maybe someday. But for now, you can arrange for your laundry to be picked up and dropped off, all from your computer. Pretty amazing!

We’ll pick up your laundry from where you are – your home, office, or from one of our convenient drop boxes in a location near you. Simply place your order on our website and we’ll do the rest.

This service is perfect if you’re a busy professional who needs to save time, or for anyone who would like to have a bit more free time in their lives, doing something other than their laundry. And we don’t just offer standard laundry services, we also offer repairs and alterations, as well as dry cleaning services.
